Update to Buxton with Lamas Parish Council – June 2022

Funding

Locality, the national funding organisation, has opened up a new funding round and we are applying for £6,500 thousand pounds. This would take us up to the maximum of £10,000 (as we spent the balance in 2021/22). This additional tranche of funding will pay for many of the remaining Consultant days that we are budgeting for to finish the NP.

If successful, we shall need to spend a further £3-4,000 on Consultant time and printing/publicity to finish the NP. This would come out of the £6,000 given to us by Broadland District Council.

We hope to finish the NP in this financial year, if not this calendar year.

Development of the NP

We believe it would be an advantage to apply for a further (separate) package of support via Locality to produce a Design Code for the Parish. This would set out in great detail the existing building design and settings within our Parish and propose a means of ensuring future development is within those designs.

We would wish to engage the Parish Council closely on this work should it proceed.

Engagement with the public

We are planning a public engagement exercise and have set aside the mornings of Saturday 18th and 25th June for an engagement event in Buxton and in Lammas. We envisage they will involve visual displays of the following:

  • Our visions and objectives – what do people think
  • Proposed designated Green Spaces and other valuable spaces – what do people think
  • Non-designated heritage assets – what do you think should go on the list
  • Lammas Business Centre – what concerns do you have
  • Sustainability – what is most important to you.

We would value the views of the Parish Council on these issues and would be very pleased to present them and listen to your feedback in a meeting, should you wish, once we have drafted the materials.
